Dunfermline HS beat St.John's 5-3 in the U14 Shield 4th Round.
Dundee beat Edinburgh 5-2 in the U15 National Trophy to win Group 2. Dundee needed to avoid a big defeat at Baldragon and Edinburgh started at a fast pace. Having weathered the early storm Dundee won a corner on the left and Stuart Heenan struck a left-foot shot from 15 yards into the top right corner, 1-0 (15m). Six minutes later another corner on the left from Sam Ogilvie was finished at the near post by Craig Moore, 2-0 (21m). However Edinburgh pulled one back immediately, 2-1 (22m). The referee played a good advantage after a sandwich on the halfway line ... meanwhile Sam Ogilvie was running clear up the left and Stuart Heenan netted his cross at the far post from 6 yards, 3-1 (30m). Again a defensive lapse let Edinburgh in to make it 3-2, (36m). Seven minutes after hafltime Josh McGuire picked up a quick Stuart Heenan throw and made straight for goal to fire a low shot past the keeper, 4-2 (47m). After a few good chances at the near post Dundee increased the lead with a Craig Moore pass from the right 6 yards out finding Josh McGuire in the centre to tap home for 5-2 (58m). The subs got on for a run and contributed to a good all-round performance. The Edinburgh sub keeper played well and stopped any further chances. So Dundee finish 1st with 9 points, Fife 2nd with 6 points while a good Edinburgh team finish 3rd with 3 points. Dundee play home to Group 3 runner-up Lanarkshire in the quarterfinal while Fife travel to Forth Valley.
With outstanding performances from (not mentioned so far) Lewis Boylen, Morgan Garden, Lewis Lorimer, Ross Clark and Brodie Cussick added to those involved in the goals, it would be difficult to name a man of the match. With a few unable to attend today and a couple of longer-term injuries hopefully on the comeback trail we can look forward with enthusiasm to the quarterfinal with Lanarkshire.
The squad today : Lewis Boylen, Morgan Garden, Finlay Lyttle, Fergus Scott (Grove), Lewis Lorimer, Josh McGuire (Harris), Ross Clark, Brodie Cussick, Arron Donald, Stuart Heenan, Craig Moore (St.John's), Blair Fyffe, Sam Ogilvie (St.Paul's).
